Key Information for 2011 EPA DERA Grant Proposals

  • 2011 national Funding Assistance Program has estimated funding of $32 Million
  • Due date for proposals is January 13, 2011
  • The following are eligible to apply: regional, state, local, tribal or port agency with jurisdiction over transportation or air quality and nonprofit organizations which represent or provide pollution reduction or educational services to persons or organizations that operate diesel fleets or have as its principle purpose, the promotion of transportation or air quality. An ineligible entity can partner with an eligible entity.
  • The types of projects funded are verified retrofit technologies, verified idle reduction technologies, verified aerodynamic/low rolling tires, certified engine repowers, and vehicle and equipment replacements
  • Eligible projects include buses, medium-duty or heavy-duty trucks, marine engines, locomotives, and non-road engines, equipment or vehicles used in construction, handling of cargo (including at a port or airport), agriculture, mining, or energy production (including stationary generators and pumps)
  • The EPA will pay for the following amounts for Verified Idle Reduction Technologies such as Espar fuel-operated air heaters and coolant heaters, including installation
    • Idle reduction technology alone - up to 50%
    • Idle reduction technology AND verified exhaust control - up to 100%
    • Idle reduction technology AND verfied aerodynamic technologies - up to 50% of the cost
    • Idle reduction technology AND verified low rolling resistance tires - up to 50% of the cost
    • Idle reduction technology AND verified exhaust control AND verified aerodynamic technologies or low rolling resistance tires - up to 100%
